Reform is desperately needed, but Trump is the worst person in the world to do it
I've strongly advocated massive government reforms for decades, and I still believe they're desperately needed. The Democrats and the Republicans have spent and regulated us into oblivion since the Coolidge administration. We're bankrupt and on the verge of insolvency. Everything that isn't moral, constitutional, and necessary needs to go, asap.
Now, having said that, the worst person in the world to undertake massive reforms is Donald J. Trump. He's proudly ignorant of our republic's premises, not to speak of its normal functioning.
Chesterton once wisely said, “Do not remove a fence until you know why it was put up in the first place.” Trump doesn't care. He's going to bulldoze everything that doesn't serve his pocketbook, his power, and his massive ego, with absolutely no regard for who gets hurt in the process.
God, help us.
