Nations are destroyed by means of a simple, common logical fallacy
Tom Hoefling
Germans were fooled into believing that their only choices were Nazis or Communists.
Russians were fooled into believing that their only choices were Reds and Whites.
Americans were fooled into believing their only choices were Republicans and Democrats.
In every case, it was a classic false dichotomy, or false dilemma.
Amazingly, entire nations can be destroyed, and generations enslaved, by means of a simple, well-known, well-defined logical fallacy.
"A false dichotomy, also known as a false dilemma or false binary, is a logical fallacy that presents two options as if they are the only options. This fallacy can be used to manipulate people into choosing between extremes."
"False dilemma fallacy is also known as false dichotomy, false binary, and “either-or” fallacy. It is the fallacy of presenting only two choices, outcomes, or sides to an argument as the only possibilities, when more are available."
