Let me tell you about a cult of personality in government. This very short, true story has it all. Political and economic extortion. A literal government protection racket. Complete dependence on government, right down to the people's daily food. Kingly anger at those who are not sycophantic enough. International affairs. Gatekeepers. Bootlicking. Gross flattery. Demagoguery. Actual worship of a man instead of God. Swift, complete, permanent retribution against the wicked cult leader, by God. The ongoing, ever-growing victory of the truth.
Acts 12
20 Now Herod had been very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon; but they came to him with one accord, and having made Blastus the king’s personal aide their friend, they asked for peace, because their country was supplied with food by the king’s country.
21 So on a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his throne and gave an oration to them. 22 And the people kept shouting, “The voice of a god and not of a man!” 23 Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died.
24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.
Donald Trump, and Trumpism, will come to no good end. Mark my words. God is patient, but even His patience has its limits. At some point, He will show his matchless power against evil. And then, look out. Nothing can stop His sharp, swift sword. Or, He may decide to use worms.
Psalm 37
35 I have seen the wicked in great power, And spreading himself like a native green tree. 36 Yet he passed away, and behold, he was no more; Indeed I sought him, but he could not be found.
37 Mark the blameless man, and observe the upright; For the future of that man is peace. 38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together; The future of the wicked shall be cut off.
39 But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in the time of trouble. 40 And the Lord shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, Because they trust in Him.
In the end, the truth, and righteousness, win. Don’t ever forget that.
